[OFARC] Winter Field Day January 28th - 29th, 2023

Colleagues,
Good afternoon.  I’d like to wish you all and your families a very merry Christmas and remind you that Winter Field Day <https://winterfieldday.org/> is fast approaching!



The Oak Forest Amateur Radio Club will be doing an overnight campout for WFD 2023 at Stephen F Austin State Park <https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/stephen-f-austin>.  We’re planning of getting a cabin, like we did this past Field Day, and setting up the grill to cook dinner and breakfast!  Both carnivore and vegetarian options will be available. ;)

My sons have volunteered to cook so the food will be very good!

Oh yea, did I mention that we’ll be operating our club station and making as many contacts on HF, VHF, UHF as possible in the 24 hour period?  :D



If you’re interested, let me know as I’ll be the coordinator for this activity.  So drop me an email & advice if you’re coming over for Saturday, Sunday, both days, or if you plan on bringing your tent/sleeping bag and spending the night.  Also, don’t forget to bring along family, neighbors, and/or friends so that they can see that not only is Ham radio "not dead" but it’s very much alive!

It will be a fun campout, great food, good camaraderie and it'll serve as an emergency preparedness exercise to boot.  Since we’ll have extra class operators present, walkups that are interested in the hobby can call CQ and make contacts even if they’re not licensed (with our mentoring & supervision).
