All, You are receiving this one-time notice from the Oak Forest ARC since
you are on the OFARC reflector or have participate in OFARC meetings or VE
testing.
There a need for hams to help with communications for the 2022 Houston
Marathon. Hams perform various communication functions during the race and
provide communications for various race nets, medical, transport, water
stations and support for race officials. There are many positions available
for 2022. Normally there are around 100 hams that support the marathon.
Coordinating this many hams is a challenge during regular years and Covid
set the process back. The communication team is mobilizing for 2022 and the
time is getting short. This is =a good emergency prep and public service
event opportunity. Tshirt, cap and bragging rights and access to the course
are some of the benefits.
See the information for items 1 and 2 below and follow the instructions for
registration. Any problems, please contact Lee Gaspard or follow the help
prompts.
Register at hmhams.org 1st
Then register on the Marathon official website with the link below as a ham
operator.
As a ham, you will be asked provide your call and upload a copy of your
license on the site. (download a PDF reference copy of your license from
the FCC website and upload where requested) Follow the various prompts and
email confirmations. ) That's it.

Houston Marathon (January 16, 2022) - Amateur Radio Positions
Welcome to Houston 2022 Marathon season! I am asking for Amateur Radio
Operators to volunteer for the Chevron Houston Marathon event for 2022. It
is the Marathon's 50th Year!
Logo
Description automatically generatedThe Chevron Houston Marathon is roughly
three months away. I am asking all Amateur Radio volunteers who intend to
volunteer to please sign-up promptly. Signing up promptly will ensure that
sufficient and right sized shirts and other items will be available for you
at distribution prior to the event. Items are ordered before December, so
please be among those signed-up!
You are receiving this email because you have volunteered in the past or
have expressed interest in participating in 2022. These instructions
contain details on how to register. Should you have any difficulties,
please send me an email and I can forward more comprehensive details.
Thank you in advance for volunteering for the Amateur Radio Service
activities for the 2022 Chevron Houston Marathon, Aramco Half-Marathon, or
the We Are Houston 5K Race as an Amateur Radio Operator and Communications
volunteer.
The 2022 Chevron Houston Marathon (SUNDAY, January 16, 2022) needs the
participation of over 150 Amateur Radio Operators and other volunteers to
fully staff and to provide public service communications and related
support. This is the 50th consecutive year for this event. Last event over
100 communications volunteers helped assure the safety and welfare of the
runners and uncounted number of spectators watching the race. This year,
30,000 participants, 7,000 volunteers, and 250,000 spectators are expected.
Very condensed Houston Marathon Registration instructions:
1. Register on <http://www.hmhams.org> www.hmhams.org Houston Marathon
Hams' web site to provide pertinent information for Amateur Radio Operator
roles. The site enables one to volunteer by providing Amateur Radio
specific information required for a "ham" Houston Marathon assignment. This
site allows you to provide equipment details and to request specific
assignments or provide ham radio details not permitted by the official
Marathon EMOS web site. You will receive an email from the web site
thanking you and asking you to simply reply back to the hmhams.org website
email. This step insures that your email allows emails from and to the
server. This is important when Amateur Radio related information is being
distributed later. The initial acknowledgement email may include
instructions on how to register with the Houston Marathon Volunteer web site
for Amateur Radio Operators (step two below).
