[OFARC] an invitation to all

BVARC invited 6 different radio clubs to join the ZOOM meeting this last
Thursday.

That invitation was passed along on the OFARC reflector (and I know at least
3 of us were on line for it.)

 

The speaker was Riley Hollingsworth... retired head of FCC enforcement for
amateur radio.

He described the history of enforcement and how ham radio was essentially
ignored by the FCC for several years because of other pressing issues.. And
then how we got their attention again. in a good way.

It was informative, interactive, and rather fun.

 

After the presentation, BVARC issued 2 open invitations to ALL area radio
operators.

 

1.    They are looking for articles for their newsletter.  

If you have a story or subject article you would like to submit, send a note
to the editor John at k5izo at yahoo.com <mailto:k5izo at yahoo.com> 

 

2.     All area radio operators are invited to join the once a month ZOOM
club meeting.

They will announce the topic and give a link on the club homepage
http://bvarc.org/home/

 

As an example. the one for this last week was given this way in the middle
of the home page.

 

This Thursday August 13 at 7:00 PM

Our guest speaker -- Riley Hollingsworth (former FCC Enforcement) now leads
the ARRL Volunteer Monitoring group.

Joint activities and cooperation, this sounds like a good idea.

Hey .. They don't all bite..Some are nice people.  And this way you don't
have to drive!
