[OFARC] License class

The ARRL currently shows 4 classes in the whole state of Texas in the next
several months.

ALL of them are near Dallas.

 

I am working up plans to do a radio license class in my area.

After reviewing the ARRL slide pack:  

*         There are 20 modules

*         I think each module should only take 15-30 minutes.  (one of the
most difficult modules is attached)

*         Figure 30 minutes on average to allow for discussion and
questions, 10 hours of class time

*         2 Saturdays of 5 hours each with a 3rd for review and testing.

 

My neighborhood newsletter deadline is Sept 15 and it will come out about
Sept 30.

That makes October the 1st month available. but it is the start of Hunting
season and the holiday season.

PLUS the CERT class will be going on Oct -Nov.

 

I am thinking we should do the class in January and use it as a follow on
for the CERT training.

We could make the Winter Field Day (January 25/26 2020) icing on the cake
and get people on the air.

 

I will check on the availability of January 4, 11, and 18 in my HOA building
