I would like input from others on a key aspect of plans for Pi Day 2019.

The Houston Museum of Natural Science Sugarland campus wants to highlight
"amateur radio circles the globe"

Based on some of my field stations during 2017 and 2018, I am concerned
about band conditions.

Please weigh in with

MY INITIAL THOUGHT

have a special event call sign and station set up outside the Sugarland
campus of the science museum

It would have VHF/UHF on solar power and HF on house power

The HF antenna could be a dipole about 15 ft up in trees or inverted V
supported off the main building (3 stories tall).

Operation would be something like 0900 to 1500 on March 14

I wanted to have US and World maps showing the locations contacted during
the day.

MY WORRY

Poor band conditions resulting in few contacts and frustrated operators and
visitors.

AN ALTERNATIVE

Set up a "typical station" inside the building to show what amateur radio
gear looks like today.

Have an operator on hand to describe equipment and why it is included in "Pi
Day"

Include maps showing where the "operators" have made contacts around the
world.

In either case, I believe we should have a table to demonstrate Morse code,
let visitors try their hand

We should also have some literature on how we serve during emergencies.

Comments and advice please!!!
