[OFARC] finding a new club location

During the weekly net tonight, there was some discussion about "what will it
take to find a new club meeting location"

 

First Thing is to think about timing... Jim says it will take a while to get
the lodge building on the market.  Perhaps over a year.

That said, I do not know if we will have use of the building until that
time.

 

So, I gave some thought to what I would look for in a new meeting location

These are offered ONLY to get people thinking about what we need and where
we could meet.

 

MUST  HAVE

                Easy to get to for all members (Near the lodge area or
centrally located)

                Meeting room suitable for meetings and doing small projects

                Low (or no) cost

 

WOULD LIKE TO HAVE

                Storage area for test materials and small equipment items

                Good food close by

                A public building where folks could drop if they are curious

 

QUESTIONS we need to answer

How far will members go?

                Who would be willing to drive to Hermann Park?

                Who prefers to stay in the Oak Forest Area?

                What about Westbury?

                Or Sharpstown?

Or Sugarland?

 

IDEAS

                Science Museum (down town)

                Science museum (Sugarland; could that lead to some conflicts
with BVARC ??)

                Library

Neighborhood community center

                VFW hall (or similar)

                Church 

Scout House

                Restaurant (????)
