The first total solar eclipse in a long time on continental USA august 21

The attached map shows times for the Houston Area

 

Times shown are UTC . take off 5 hours for CDT

First shadow contact 11:46 a.m.

Maximum eclipse 13:16  (1:13 p.m.)

Last shadow contact 14:45  (2:45 pm)

 

Maximum eclipse in Houston about 66% of sun disc will be covered.

Use #14 welder glass or a shadow box to watch it.

Can also use binoculars/telescope to project image or buy "eclipse glasses"
on line for a few dollars.
