Ralph,

I’d be interested in helping to build BPF’s for use by the club to use for JOTA and field day or help members build them for personal use. Can you share construction tutorials to help us understand the scope of project? Here’s one that I found:

https://www.n1nc.org/Filters/

Best regards,

Barry KG5IRR

Subject: [OFARC] Filter project

so far I have received 4 replies to my "survey" about doing the band pass filter project

Add me to that list and we have 5 votes ...

Of those:

3 wanted to build filters for themselves

1 only wanted to build a set for the club

4 wanted to learn more about filters (but only 2 admitted it)

of the 4 wanting to build filters:

1 mentioned 20m as primary and 40m as secondary

1 stated 40m as primary and 20m as secondary

1 stated 40m as primary and 80m as secondary

1 stated no preference (the club normally uses a 20m and 40m filter at field day, but could use others as well)

Since we are currently in a low of the current solar cycle (and it will continue for 2-3 more years), 20M. 40M, and 80m filters would be the most useful for now.

The only parts we need to order are the capacitors.

A preliminary check of parts at www.mouser.com for the 20m and 40m filters, for each filter ....capacitors will run $10-20 (plus shipping), with other parts about $15 ....so approximately $40 after shipping.

I will confirm part numbers and cost for all the filters and provide a tighter estimate as soon as I can.

At the next club meeting, we can discuss how to proceed with the project ....
explain filter function and design at a meeting
show & tell some filters at a club meeting, describe how to construct
?????? club order and build OR each person order and build, then we test them all at a club meeting?????
