JOTA is Saturday October 15

The Flyer is attached

I have reached out to several scout leaders ... 4 packs (grades 1-5) & 6
troops (Grades 6-12)

two packs and 1 troop have responded so far with interest.

My invitation also includes some Scout Council representatives and the
BSA sponsor of JOTA.

I can provide two complete radio set ups for HF (one radio also does UHF)

My scout box also includes some posters and Morse code index cards I use
for talks with Scouts.

I believe our club meeting for October has been moved to the same date
as JOTA.

We should ask Rusty to confirm.

We can set up like we did for Field Day, but simpler. (NO generator,
only 2 HF antennas)

A 3rd radio would be good to have for backup

I will need antennas and helpers.

Probably 20M and 40M will be the best options (maybe 10m)

A vertical and the G5RVs should work fine.

Regards,

Ralph

Greetings Fellow Scouters;
JOTA 2016 will be Oct 14-16
The JOTA 2015 was a reasonable success, but did suffer from a few problems.
Radio reception at headquarters suffers from severe interference to the
point that long distance communications were impossible.
However, as I stated in my post action report for JOTA 2015, we did make
several contacts around town, including other scouts.
In an effort to make this year’s event even more successful, t
he club would like to host JOTA 2016 at our club sponsor location in Oak
Forest........

Oak Forest Masonic Lodge

4721 Watonga

Houston, Texas 77092

The location and time are given in the attached flyer.
In addition, the Oak Forest Amateur Radio Club renews it’s offer to
provide merit badge classes and speakers at meetings.
We recently spoke to a cub scout pack in the museum district.
The boys, parents, and leaders all seemed to enjoy the talk and asked
several questions afterwards.
Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to arrange
for a club member to speak to leaders or scouts.
Thanks & Regards,
Ralph Phillips ...KE5HDF
