I forgot to mention that if you are having a lot of noise on your radio, you should do some things before calling Jeff.

Keep a log
    log he noise on several days
    write down the noise level on several bands
    make note of time of day & weather conditions
    try different times of day
    look for a pattern related to time or weather

Check to see if it is from your house 
    Try running the radio non battery only
    try running the radio on battery with all the power to your house shut off

these steps will help Jeff know where to start looking
