October 17

ready for visitors and on the air from 0900 to 1500 local time
We will set up at the lodge and at the Scout HQ on TC Jester

Need 3-4 members at each location to staff everything; may need two shifts of people.
We need people to step up and provide the Items underlined

a.. 2M/70cm voice activity the lodge has a permanently mounted 2m antenna. That should suffice. I have a portable 2M j-pole and will find a way to mount it that does not look too "hillbilly".
b.. 20M voice activity. We need a dipole or buddi-pole type antenna at the lodge and a buddi-pole type at HQ. Who can provide???????
c.. PSK31 station I can provide a laptop and set up for one location. Can someone provide another PSK31 set up??
d.. World/US maps to show locations we contact I will provide one set. Who can provide another set of maps?
e.. have 2 or 3 morse practice keys/sounders and explain the code I can provide 2 or 3 keyers and some pocket size code sheets. Can someone provide 1 or 2 practice keys?
f.. open an old tube type recvr and modern rig to show the differences I have one of each. Can someone provide an old tube type receiver or transmitter and open it so people can look in?
g.. describe how amateur radio and scouting have similar goals & can complement each other I will provide posters
h.. explain what amateur radio is and how it works WITH current social media or when social media fails I will provide some ideas
i.. describe the stuff we do I will provide some ideas
j.. hang poster showing careers that use skills you can learn in amateur radio I will provide posters
k.. display/describe the 3 merit badge books related to amateur radio (radio, electronics, electricity) I will provide PDF files of the worksheets for each
l.. explain how amateur radio helped for Katrina, Haiti earthquake, current wild fires, etc.
m.. have some fun with the boys and leaders
I am getting some inquiries about merit badge classes and JOTA
One group that wants a class is in SugarLand
If this is any indication, we could have many more visitors than last year.
