The club has been talking about working with Scouts for a while and we finally are getting some interest.
Last night I gave a presentation about Amateur Radio and JOTA to the leaders of Aquila District (in the Westbury area). The cub scout leaders were interested in JOTA and some of the boy scout leaders asked me about merit badge classes for radio.

If you are interested in being a merit badge counselor, you will need to fill out an application and they will do a background check. I will gather more information on that and send to the reflector by a separate note.

In the mean time, I have downloaded the requirements for some scout merit badges that relate to amateur radio that some of us may wish to teach. The requirements are in the attached file.

badges included in the file are (and radio related sections as i see it):
Radio ALL

Communication 1

Electricity 3, 4, 10, 11

Electronics 1, 2, 3, 5, 6

Emergency Preparedness 6, 7

If you are interested/curious in other badges, you can find requirments and PDF worksheets for all badges at http://meritbadge.org/wiki/index.php/Merit_Badges
