Greetings from KF5RSA:
Well I heard from Greg Meyer about the Bay Area Park Scout Hut.  He said it is already taken on March 7.  It will be available March 14.  He felt that Spring Break would hamper that date and he would have a tough time finding an adult from the troop to stay there the whole time required by the troop's permit for the Scout Hut.  He said that his preference would be for us to give him a 2 to 3 month notice so he could get the Scout Hut for the best weekend and he could arrange for an adult who will not only be the designated troop representative there but would also lead a merit badge.  I think his point is valid.  So, as you suggested, we should proceed with plans for Sylvan Rodriguez Park and plan another time for Bay Area Park Scout Hut.
We are just starting on our OFARC in the park and perhaps we should have some events without planned guests so we can get some degree of organization to do an effective job communicating the importance and relevance of ham radio in the Gulf Coast Area.  I enjoy the opportunity to be around other hams who have more experience than me and I know that I get a little better each time out.  Let's push ahead and explore other parks.  This is a cool idea for our club and we can all get to know each other better as a result.
