the 2015 JOTA (Jamboree on the air) is set for Oct 16-18
We will likely have a couple radios set up at the lodge and one or 2 at the scout HQ located at 610 and TC Jester
One of our members plans to go the Oak Forest area leader round table this Thursday and we also plan to attend the roundtable in Westbury area in September
I am also trying to get an invitation for us to set up radios at a scout campout
More information as it develops

Jota applies to both age groups and I have set up radios on cub camp outs just to demonstrate what we can do. There are awards and activities that both age groups can complete through radio.

The general session for Roundtable, which includes both Cub and Scout leaders, begins at 7:00 p.m., but the groups don't start their separate sessions until 7:15 or so. Is your focus on Boy Scouts and older, or is this something that applies to Cubs as well?

I appreciate the note and your consideration.
Very likely we could have one of our club members present in order to answer any questions that may come up.
I will check with the club to see who all can be there.
I believe the leader round table is held at t he Cockrell Scout Center on I-610 starting at 7:00 PM.
Is that correct?
You will probably want to know something about our club members.
I was CubMaster for 7 years – Pack 705, Aquila district and Asst. Scout Master Troop 455 for one year
My YPT card is up to date, and I am still registered as a committee member for P705.
I have taught the radio Merit Badge twice
Several of our other members have been involved in scouts over the years and wish to do so again.

Ralph Phillips

Thanks Ralph. I'll discuss this with district leaders at our Roundtable meeting next Thursday.

School is about to start again, so it is time to start thinking about the Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) event in October.
Last year my amateur radio club set up radios at SHAC HQ (Cockrell) and it seemed to go well.
Our radio club would like to participate again, but would really like to do something particular for your district.
Oak Forest Amateur Radio club would be willing to provide information and presentations describing JOTA and have some of your scouts join us at our club HQ.
We could also be available to set up radio stations for Cub/Scout camp outs and work with scouts to get them on the air.
The 2015 Jamboree On the air/Internet will be the weekend of Oct 16-18

Scouts are also welcome to visit any of our regular meetings (4th Saturday of the month).
We can help with the radio merit badge, international patch, and emergency communications merit badge.
Our radio activities also can apply toward some cub and Webelos awards.
I would appreciate your help in getting on the agendas for Scout Leader Round Table meetings, as well as setting up JOTA events for Skyline district.
Thanks and Regards,
