FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CHERRYVILLE RADIO CLUB’S 33rd ANNUAL “HAMFEST” FLEA MARKET FUNDRAISER
FLEMINGTON – More than 100 vendors of radio, electronics, computer
equipment and accessories at bargain prices are expected to fill the
cafeteria of North Hunterdon Regional High School on Route 31 in the
Annandale section of Clinton Township from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on
Saturday, April 5 for the 33rd annual Cherryville Repeater Association
II “Hamfest” -- their biggest fundraising event of the year, and one
of the largest in the state.
The Cherryville Hamfest will mark its ninth year at this location with
its “flea market” of bargains for amateur radio hobbyists, emergency
communications responders, or anyone into computers, electronics,
vintage radio or weather. Valuable door prizes will be awarded, and
fresh, hot breakfast sandwiches, hamburgers and more will be served
all morning.
National Weather Service will teach “SkyWarn Weather Spotter”
training, and there will be Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
amateur radio license testing for prospective new hams.
The Cherryville Repeater Association II is a non-profit organization
of more than 100 “ham” radio operators dedicated to offering their
communications skills to community events such as the March Of Dime
Walk-a-Thon, Lebanon’s 4th of July parade, the Skylands Triathlon, as
well as equestrian events, scout jamborees, and anywhere the safety of
participants and spectators is a concern.
Cherryville members are active in the Radio Amateur Civilian Emergency
Service (RACES) division of Homeland Security & FEMA, and Amateur
Radio Emergency Services (ARES). They hold preparedness drills and
provide emergency communications support to local authorities during
disasters, floods, hurricanes, and other hazardous events in
association with served agencies including the American Red Cross.
Cherryville club meetings are held the second Friday of each month at
7:30 p.m. in the Flemington Baptist Church at Church and Main. All
interested persons are welcome. For information call 908-391-7655,
