Hi Kurt ...
(sending to all to hopefully avoid duplication of efforts)
That antenna resonator is more properly called an "RM10S", not "RSxxS" ...
The "10" in the model number means that it is for the ten meter ham band ...
Hustler resonators, both High Power (1 KW SSB input to the final, designated
RM-xx-S) and normal power (400 Watt maximum, designated RM-xx) are designed to sit
on top of a Hustler MO-1, MO-2 or MO-3 mast (54" long - only difference between the
three being the foldover point. MO1 is designed to mount on the fender (side) or on
the rear deck of a car, and has a low foldover point (about 15" or so up from the
bottom); MO2 is designed for bumper mounting, and has the foldover point in the
middle of the mast, and the MO3 does not fold over at all. They recently (about ten
years or so ago) introduced the MO-4, 22" mast for special applications - it makes
the antenna very significantly less efficient, and is not recommended unless you
absolutely cannot use the longer mast, in which case the combination of resonator
and MO-4 short mast is somewhat better than no antenna at all!
The RM10S coil is about 2 1/8" wide and 5 inches tall, and the combination of the
tubing that accepts the "stinger" plus the stinger length makes the entire
resonator, as installed, somewhere in the area of 24" or so in length above the top
of the resonator. From the bottom of the coil, where it sits on the top of the
mast, to the top of the tube that the stinger screws into, it's about 12" long.
Hustler says (page 87 of our Spring/Summer catalog) that you can expect between 250
and 400 KHz of under 2:1 SWR bandwidth, depending on the installation.
Hope this helps!
