New River Valley Amateur Radio Club

Meeting called to order at 7:05 PM

Reports
Secretary’s Report – Edward Lener
The May meeting minutes were sent to the club reflector on 7/26. No corrections or additions were received. There was no club meeting in June due to Field Day.

Treasurer’s Report – Steve Allen
Club finances are in good shape. Auction of Jim Marchant’s equipment is nearly done. Anticipate a portion of the proceeds to be donated to the club.

WinLink Update – Danny Wylam
Both stations are currently down.

Repeater Update –Mike Herring
Brush Mountain – will need to get our stuff off of the tower.

Guest Speaker – Michael Aimone, WA8AHZ
Talked about the state of the hobby and ARRL as part of a listening tour.

Equipment Update – Cam Coble
Got a split diplexer instead of a quadplexer as originally planned. The screen died on the FT-710. Radio is out of warranty, shipped it to California for a quote.

Report on Audie Murphy and D-Day Memorial Special Events – Danny Wylam
Had great weather for both ends but band conditions were poor. Made 29 phone contacts at Audie Murphy event but only 10 at the D-Day Memorial.


ARRL Field Day – Cam Coble
Held at Randolph Park. Had 17 logged visitors and 12 operators. Christopher Peters, K4HZ led an educational event on mobile communications. Full report will be posted on club website.


Blings n Things – – “Feedline Follies: Coax, Connectors, and Confusion” – Members showed different coax types, adapters, and common mistakes that cause RF headaches.
