New River Valley Amateur Radio Club
Meeting held at the Blacksburg Fire Station #3

Meeting called to order at 7:05 PM

Reports
Secretary’s Report – Edward Lener
The August meeting minutes were sent to the club reflector earlier on 10/27. No corrections or additions were received.

Treasurer’s Report – Steve Allen
Club finances in good shape. Will start with renewals for 2026 soon.

WinLink Update – Danny Wylam
Cloyd’s Mt. is now operational again. Brush mountain continues to operate fine except for when the computer battery ran down.

Repeater Update – Cam Coble for Mike Herring
Still waiting on some repairs. Continuing to get some feedback

Club Donation Acknowledgements
Baofeng HT’s were donated by KO4MWC from a silent key estate, plan is for club to give them to newly licensed hams
Radio with APRS donated by Kay Craigie, NK3N went to Andrew


Club Calendar

Old Business

Veteran’s Day Special Event – Danny Wylam
Plan to arrive and start setting up at 9:00 AM. Will use the same location as before. Will operate special event station W2B between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM.


New Business
Eating Meeting in January
Need to confirm venue – Jim, W4BEA, will take care of this
Door Prizes – Christopher Peters and Steve Allen
Date – Likely either January 10th or 17th

Winter Field Day
Steve Allen will check with the conference center regarding availability

Nominating Committee – Cam Coble
Jim, W4BEA will chair
Cam will reach out for additional volunteers – (Note - Mike Herring and John Morehead also later agreed to serve.)

Blings n Things – “DIY Dummies: Antennas on a Budget” – Members showcased budget- friendly and creative homemade antennas.


Meeting adjourned at 8:05 PM

There were a total of 16 attendees (15 in person, 1 online)

Next Meeting November 24th. Note that there is NO December meeting.
