New River Valley Amateur Radio Club
Meeting held at the Blacksburg Fire Station #3
Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM

Secretary’s Report – Edward Lener
The January meeting minutes were sent to the club reflector on 2/22. No corrections or additions were received.
Treasurer’s Report – Steve Allen
Club finances in good shape. 2025 renewals coming in. Have reached out to those who haven’t renewed in past two years but previously were members.
WinLink Update – Danny Wylam
Both were off the air due to power outages. Reset the one on Brush Mountain which is working fine. One on Cloyd’s Mountain is still off the air.
Repeater Update – Mike Herring
Still having interference issues even after replacing components, will try adding isolators next.

Medical Reserve Corps – Susannah Marley
Presentation on the group and its activities in the area. They are looking to create a Ham Radio team to assist during deployments. More information at https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/mrc/
Shack Pack – Cam Coble
Discussed the club’s “shack pack” for loaning to those new to amateur radio to help them get on the air. Cam drafted an agreement, will share by email for comment. Christopher Peters will handle the equipment loans.
Life-Long Learning Institute – Irene Peterson
Part of the continuing education program for seniors in the New River Valley area sponsored by Virginia Tech. Opportunity to lead a range of programs from an overview to and in-depth session. Possible way to get more people involved in amateur radio. More details at https://cpe.vt.edu/lifelonglearning.html
Web page for club donations – Cam Coble
Provides a way to publicly acknowledge donations to the club. Donors can opt out if they prefer to remain anonymous.
Club equipment documentation page – Cam Coble
Plan to put QR codes on key pieces of equipment that will take you to more details on each item.
Club event schedule – Cam Coble
Special events for Audie Murphy, D-Day, and Veteran’s Day. Also plan to offer one or more foxhunts.
New River Community College – Cam Coble
Have an active Ham Radio club, planning an event for April 8th. They currently have very limited equipment.
New Net Script and EmComm Training – Cam Coble
Have updated the net script. Also added a new set of training documentation on emergency communications that the net control operator can use at their discretion. Will try to incorporate training during the Thursday night nets.
Blings n Things – Cam Coble
Club members were encouraged to bring something amateur radio related and share with the group.

Our next monthly club meeting will be on March 24th.
