[nrv-hams] Marine Marathon volunteer opportunity

Folks,

If you're looking for a reason to go to NOVA for a weekend getaway, ham
volunteers are needed to support Emergency Communications support for the 50
th running of the Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday, Oct 26th. Up to 36,000
runners are expected.   A simple HT with an after-market whip antenna  is
all that is needed.  Hams ring the 26  mile race course and call in runner
status reports, along with medical and police  emergencies.  To volunteer,

menu option.  I've heard that this is a lot of fun for all concerned (well,
maybe not "fun" for the runners :-)  ).
