Hope that everyone's new year is off to a good start. Below are the minutes of our November meeting. Please let me know of any corrections that are needed.
January is a busy month for the club, kicking off with our annual Eat and Meet at Sal’s restaurant in Radford starting at noon on Saturday January 18th
Other events include Winter Field Day - Saturday, January 25th, 10am to Midnight and our
regular club meeting on Monday, January 27th, 2025, 7pm held at the Blacksburg Fire station #3.

New River Valley Amateur Radio Club
Meeting held at the Blacksburg Fire Station #3
Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM

Secretary’s Report – Edward Lener
The October meeting minutes were sent to the club reflector on 11/17. No corrections or additions were received.
Treasurer’s Report – Steve Allen
Club finances in good shape. Have started to accept 2025 renewals. Dues are still at $30/yr and may be paid by cash, check, or online.
WinLink Update – Danny Wylam
Brush Mountain is working fine. One on Cloyd’s Mountain is down again due to internet issues.
Repeater Update – Mike Herring
No change from last time, still need to do some adjustments on the controller.
Club Donation Acknowledgements
None.
Old Business
Club QSL Card – Cam Coble
Haven’t had time to do anything further. Will resume discussion in 2025.
New Business
Report from Nominating Committee – John Morehead
John Morehead, KO4OUE, chair. Jim Hassall, W4BEA and Patrick Lloyd, KN4PDL. The nominating committee was asked to prepare a slate of officers for the November meeting.
All four of the existing officers have agreed to serve for another year, however Steve and Christopher will switch their respective roles. As such, the nominating committee made the following recommendations:
President - Cam Coble
Vice President – Steve Allen
Treasurer - Christopher Peters
Secretary - Edward Lener
Jim Hassell made a motion in support and Cindy Turner seconded. The vote passed unanimously.
Report on D-Day Memorial - Veterans Day - Nov 11 Event – Danny Wylam
Had eight operators from the club. Waited until after the ceremony to begin. Operated for about three hours and made 220 contacts, including stations in Europe, Africa, and Central America. Lots of veterans among the contacts, not all were familiar with the memorial. Will ask about June 6th for 2025 but timing is very close to Audie Murphy event.

January Eat and Meet – Christopher Peters and Jim Hassall
Want to do a sign up to get a better sense of expected turnout. Will have on January 18th at Sals. Look for further details by email. Pete Burkey made a motion to allocate $250 of club funds for door prizes as done in previous years. The motion was approved unanimously.
Winter Field Day – Cam Coble
Will be held on January 25th at the Dublin Conference Center (at the same location as last year). A schedule and further details will be shared closer to the event.
Blings n Things –“HAM Shack Showcase” – Members gave a photographic tour of their personal ham shacks.
Meeting adjourned at 8:50 PM
There were a total of 22 attendees (19 in person, 3 online)
Our next monthly club meeting will be on January 27th.
