New River Valley Amateur Radio Club
Meeting held at the Blacksburg Fire Station #3

Secretary’s Report – Edward Lener
The May meeting minutes were sent to the club reflector on 8/24. No corrections or additions were received.
Treasurer’s Report – Steve Allen
Sold over $40 worth of items at the Roanoke Hamfest. There were items that were leftover from the Radio Rummage sale at Field Day.
WinLink Update – Danny Wylam
One on Brush Mountain is working fine.
Repeater Update – Mike Herring and Cam Coble
Not currently linked between Cloyd and Brush Mountain repeaters but plan to go up again soon to fix that.

Review of D-Day Memorial Special Event – Danny Wylam
Participated in their No-Excuses Night on August 10. Went very well and the club has been invited back for Veteran’s Day in November. Had 79 contacts using two radios on 20 and 40 meters.
Discussion of JOTA/JOTI Event – Cam Coble
Oct 18-20 at Camp Powhatan, hope to go up with one station. Based on past experience probably want to use older equipment in case of any damage or mishandling.
Booth at 2025 Roanoke Ham Fest – Cam Cable
Discussed renting a table at future Roanoke Ham Fest’s. The cost is only $25.
Club QSL Card – Cam Coble
We have not had one before. Would need a design that represents the club and the NRV area.

Approved with a unanimous vote in favor of membership.
Silent Key, Carter Craigge, N3AO
Members shared reminisces. A condolence card will be sent to Kay Craigge.

Blings n Things – “Emergency Comms Extravaganza” – Members shared their emergency communication setup and discussed its role in community service.
