New River Valley Amateur Radio Club
Meeting held at the Blacksburg Fire Station #3
Meeting called to order at 7:05 PM

Secretary’s Report – Edward Lener
The August meeting minutes were sent to the club reflector on 10/26. No corrections or additions were received.
Treasurer’s Report – Steve Allen
Club finances in good shape. No expenditures or incoming funds over the last month. Will start collecting soon for 2025.
WinLink Update – Danny Wylam
One on Cloyd’s Mountain was down, possible internet issues again.
Repeater Update – Mike Herring and Cam Coble
Repeaters are linked again. Need to turn the volume down.
Club Donation Acknowledgements

Old Business
Planning for D-Day Memorial Special Event – Cam Coble
Club has been invited back for Veteran’s Day in November. Will have a special call, W2B. Listed in QST and on the ARRL special event website. Can arrive early in the morning, may be set up in a different spot. Plan to operate 2 stations.
New Business
JOTA/JOTI Event – Cam Coble
Held at Camp Powhattan in Hiwassee, Virginia on October 19th. Had a single station, with a monitor so scouts could view. Several club members took part and talked with scouts around the country. Went well for the first time. Next year will prepare a script with some ideas to spark conversation – some cub scouts had mic fright or were very brief in their comments.
Nominating Committee – Cam Coble
John Morehead, KO4OUE, will chair. Jim Hassall, W4BEA and Patrick Lloyd, KN4PDL, will also serve. Nominations will be submitted at the November meeting.

There were a total of 17 attendees (15 in person, 2 online)
Reminder – November meeting will be on the 18th. This is one week early to avoid interfering with anyone’s Thanksgiving holiday plans.
