[nrv-hams] VAQP - March 16 and 17, 2024

I really encourage hams to participate in contests. Not necessarily for the
contest, but to enhance their own operating skills, and test their own
equipment.
We know that amateur radio can be a life saver for communication during
disasters, but we need to practice. You will not rise to the occasion
during a disaster, but instead become a hindrance to proper and clear
communication.

Therefore, I invite you to hone your skills with the upcoming VA QSO Party
March 16th and 17th. This will give you the opportunity to make contacts
with other states for sure, but the real challenge is getting others in VA
using HF. You may find that you have to alter your dipole to make use of
NVIS to make those closer contacts, or that certain bands are just not
workable for that distance. Either way, you'll be learning!
