Bill,
A typical auto lighter or accessory socket is fused @ 10 or maybe 15 amps.
Changing the fuse would be"very bad" :-)
If you want to pull 30 amps (e.g. for a 50 watt VHF/UHF/GMRS transceiver),
you'll want something like a fused 10 gauge wire direct from the battery or
the fuse block.

In your time of need, may your piece be with you!
"Und ich hörte eine Stimme vom Himmel zu mir sagen: Schreibe: Selig
sind die Toten, die in dem HERRN sterben von nun an. Ja, der Geist spricht,
daß sie ruhen von ihrer Arbeit; denn ihre Werke folgen ihnen nach."
(Offenbarung 14,13)
Compound Pronouns 101:
Object: The invitation was sent to her and me, i.e.: to her and to me.
Subject: She went, I went, i.e.: she and I went.
Ignorant: The invitation was sent to she and I ... her and me went!
The trouble with many of today's college graduates is not that they're
ignorant, it's that they've been taught so much that just isn't so!
(with apologies to
Ronald Reagan).
