New River Valley Amateur Radio Club

Meeting held at the Blacksburg Fire House. In addition, a simultaneous Zoom
session was held.



Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM



Welcome from Cam Coble as President

Introduction of officers



*Reports*

Secretary’s Report – Edward Lener

The September meeting minutes were sent to the club reflector on August
22nd. No corrections or additions were received.



Treasurer’s Report – Cam Coble for Steve Allen

Club is in good standing. One additional renewal.  Cam will update the
website for 2024 renewals shortly.



WinLink Update – Danny Wylam

Things are working well again. Had minor issue with Cloyd Mountain node but
Cam was able to reset it remotely.



Repeater Update – Mike Herring

Everything seems to be working well. Let him know of any issues.



Club Donation Acknowledgements – Cam Coble

Silent Key – Cam Coble

Garland Linkous, K9RES, died October 10, 2023. He was a club member for
many years but had become less active in recent years.



Fox Hunt and Breakfast Social – Cam Coble

Held at Randolph Park on October 2nd.   Attendance was low but everyone had
a good time, including two people who were not members. One transmitter
malfunctioned but other two were found.



Club Shirts – Cam Coble

Cam asked what are we trying to do?  Club logo / Something that identifies
me as part of a club / Something that advertises ham radio.  Members also
discussed styles and the preferred option was a polo shirt since the last
one was a T-shirt.



Nominating Committee – Cam Coble

Cam identified three people to serve as a nominating committee and prepare
a slate of officers for the November meeting.  John Morehead will chair the
committee, with Patrick Johnson and Len Sutphin serving as members.



January Eat n Meet – Christopher Peters

Christopher asked for interest and suggestions for possible locations.
There was strong interest in having a meeting mid-January. Christopher
Peters and Jim Hassall will serve as co-coordinators.  A motion to allocate
$250 for door prizes was then approved unanimously.

Members showed off their mobile set ups.



Meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM.



There were a total of 12 attendees (9 in-person, and 3 on Zoom)
