[nrv-hams] Club GUT check - Anyone needing help?

Cam,  Happy New Year to All !!!

I haven't had much luck working with my HF rig.  I made one solid PSK31
contact in the Dominican Republic, and a couple of voice contacts on 20M a
couple of years ago, but either I'm "doing it wrong" or there's a problem
with my setup.  My antenna auto-tuner seems to work, but I seldom hear
anyone when I try some "known" frequencies or just wander around on 20/40M
and never have had a response to a CQ call.  Isn't there a voice time
signal I should be able to hear?

Admittedly, I haven't worked with the HF bands for a couple of years and
have forgotten a lot of the details.  Maybe I was just put off by bad
propagation "back then" ... maybe it's better now?

Some technical assistance (I don't have any testing equipment) and some HF
operator mentoring would be much appreciated.
