Greetings everyone,
Great to see several familiar faces at Winter Field Day.
Below are minutes of our January 23rd meeting. Please let me know if any
other additions or corrections are needed.

New River Valley Amateur Radio Club
Meeting held at the Pulaski County School Board Building. In addition, a
simultaneous Zoom session was held.
Meeting called to order at 7:05 PM
Welcome from Cam Coble as President
Introduction of officers
*Reports*
Secretary’s Report – Edward Lener
The November meeting minutes were sent to the club reflector on Dec. 15. No
corrections or additions were received.
Treasurer’s Report – Cam Coble for Steve Allen
Club is in good standing. Six more renewals for 2023 come in. Now up to 30
households in total.
WinLink Update – Danny Wylam
Everything seems to be working fine. Coordinates for the nodes have now
been corrected in the system.
Repeater Update – Mike Herring
Jason and Mike went up to the mountain. Replaced some cabling and
reinstalled pre-amp. Everything seems to be working well. Please let him
know of any problems.
*Old Business*
Renewal Reminder – Cam Coble
Please get your renewal in if you have not already done so. Can pay online
via Paypal or mail a check to Steve Allen as treasurer.
Winter Build Project Update – Cam Coble
Built the Ozark Patrol regenerative receiver kit from the Four State QRP
Group. It can receive AM signals and single side band. All components were
surface mount so it was an interesting build project.

January Meet and Eat – Cam Coble and Chris Peters
Had about 25 people who attended the meet and eat on Jan 14th at Sal’s
Restaurant in Radford. Everyone had a good time. Hope to resume door
prizes next year.
*New Business*
Winter Field Day Planning – Cam Coble
Planning to hold Winger Field Day at the Appalachian Conference Center in
Dublin. Will use the same building as last year but hope to have heat.
Will use the DX Commander antenna and the new triplexer to run 3 different
bands on it. Event will start at 2:00 PM on January 28th 2023.

How to HF Class – Cam Coble
Cam will offer an introduction to HF operating before the start of Winter
Field Day. Plan to begin at approx. 12:30 on January 28th 2023.
VA QSO Party – Cam Coble
Will be held on March 18th. In the past several counties in SW VA have had
little activity. Hope to get more activated for the 2023 event.
Audie Murphy Special Event – Danny Wylam
Event sent for June 3rd. Will be a chance to use the new antenna and
triplexer.
Near Southwest Preparedness Alliance – Cam Coble
Mark Cromer from NSPA reached out and would like to attend one of our
upcoming meetings.
Cam will work with him to coordinate a date
Gut Check – Cam Coble
Two people responded to a call earlier this month to for help needed to Get
U Transmitting.
*Blings n Things* – Old Goals / New Goals
Members talked about goals from last year that they met and new ones they
have for 2023.
Cam encouraged everyone to write down their goals – A goal not written down
is nothing more than a wish.
Meeting adjourned at 8:15 PM.
There were a total of 9 attendees (5 in-person, and 4 on Zoom)
