Greetings all,
Below are minutes of our September 26th meeting. I've updated them to
reflect that the Foxhunt we talked about on Monday night has now been
cancelled due to the bad weather expected this weekend. Please let me know
if any other additions or corrections are needed.

New River Valley Amateur Radio Club

April 2022 marked the return to in-person club meetings, with the meeting
held at the Pulaski County School Board Building. In addition, a
simultaneous Zoom session was held.

Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM

Welcome and brief introductions from Cam Coble as President

*Reports*

Secretary’s Report – Edward Lener

The August meeting report was sent to club reflector on Aug. 28th. No
corrections or additions were received.

Treasurer’s Report – Steve Allen

Expenses have been paid and the club is in good standing.

WinLink Update – Danny Wylam

Everything seems to be working well. Winlink Wednesday is growing in
popularity with some 400 participants. Virginia is still the most active
state but others are now checking in. See participant map at
https://www.qsl.net/kw4shp/WinlinkWed/WWmap.html

Repeater Update – Mike Herring

Repeaters are working well. Let him know of any issues

*Old Business*

None.

*New Business*

Club Concentration Area Group – Cam Coble

This will be a group activity of those wanting to explore a new area of the
hobby together. The first concentration area will be Satellite
Communications. Meetings will be supplementary to normal club activities,
and probably meet more often. It will focus on sharing of information,
lessons learned, and problem solving with an emphasis on home-built
construction. More info is available at
https://www.n4nrv.org/concentration-area-satellite/

VHF Contest – Cam Coble

Cam shared highlights and photos of the club’s participation in the ARRL
September VHF Contest. Despite the soggy weather 13 contacts were made, one
as far as Connecticut. A full report is on the club website at
https://www.n4nrv.org/review-2022-sept-arrl-vhf-contest/

Discussion and Proposal for purchase - Low Band Systems HF Multiplexer –
Cam Coble

Purpose: Would allow us to deploy 1 multiband resonant antenna such as the
club’s new DX Commander antenna for use on 3 transceivers (at the same
time) for the selected bands.

This model (https://www.dxengineering.com/parts/lbs-tp500-804020) cover the
80/40/20 meters for $270 at DX Engineering. We would still need to use with
our current bandpass filters.

Christopher Peters made a motion to purchase and Len Sutphin seconded. The
motion passed with one dissenting vote.

Testing Sessions – Len Sutphin

Would like to resume club sponsored testing sessions on a quarterly
basis. These
will be held in Dublin. Need at least 4 volunteer examiners to make things
work. More info on how to become a VE is available at
http://www.arrl.org/become-an-arrl-ve Email Len at kc5ejr at gmail.com if
interested. Former VE’s should also confirm that their credentials are
still current.

Foxhunt – Cam Coble

Foxhunt planned for Saturday, Oct 1. after the club breakfast at Country
Kitchen. UPDATE 9/29 – THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER AND
WILL BE RESCHEDULED.

*Blings n Things* – “Your Coax is Showing”

Members spoke how they run coax to their station and Cam shared some
details on his installation.

Meeting adjourned at 8:20 PM.

There were a total of 12 attendees (7 in-person, and 5 on Zoom)
