Happy New Year everyone! Hope you're doing well, and ready to have a
productive year.
Thoughts of the new year help us to envision hope and excitement for things
we would like to do better, things we would like to stop doing, and new
things to try. I would like to encourage you to think about your ham radio
hobby in these ponderings as well!
I'm still mulling over what I'd like to do, and want to share some thoughts
on goal setting I've learned, and maybe they can help you.
- Write them down
Get out an old notebook, and write them down, cross them out when
achieved, or write your numbers as you accumulate quantities.
- Set goals that are measurable
Don't "make more contacts" but instead, "make x contacts per month".
- Set realistic goals
If you don't know morse code, you'll probably have a difficult time
"working all states with CW". Make the goal reasonable so you don't get
frustrated.
- Make a plan. break it down
If you have a goal, develop a plan to get there and make the steps
individual goals. You'll see much more progress and feel better along the
way.
- Reward yourself
Write down what your reward will be under your goal. Revisit your list
to see your progress, and give yourself a little something with each goal!
