Hey Steve,
On the SWR problem you seem to be having? When I contacted Tarheel about
this right after I put it into my first truck, they told me a lot of things
can contribute to it. First was the ground of the HP-200, the shorter the
wire to ground the better. If you can't have a short one, you'll need to
have two or three. Also take a look at when you're taking the
measurements, if a door is open it'll mess it up big time. Just ask me how
I found that out! :>)
The second was the ground to your radio, again the shorter the better. As
long as they aren't daisy chained you should be good.
If you still have the problems, I have a couple of places to check.
K0BG's (http://k0bg.com/) has an excellent site for the mobile installer or
problems. Hm, there are a few others, but they are escaping my head at the
moment.

If you are having noise problems, you'll also need to ground the doors to
the frame and the body also. I'm including the tail gate, exhaust pipe,
engine. Yes, run a secondary big wire from the engine to the frame.
Anything on the truck that is subject to vibration needs to be
properly grounded. Scraping paint, buffing off the rust prior to putting
grounds to the frame too. It can be a very large job to do all of this,
but so worth it in the end. I have picked up China, Japan, Russia, and a
whole lot of the Aisin nations to boot. All of Europe so it does pay off.
If you have questions, need advice, just want to compare the two trucks I
have no problems with that. My email is n4mav1 at gmail.com
