Our next meeting will be Monday, May 24th. Also, don't forget the Audie

4/26/2021



New River Valley Amateur Radio Club

Meeting was held over the air on club repeaters due to COVID-19 concerns.
In addition, a simultaneous Zoom session was held.



Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM

Secretary’s Report – Edward Lener

Full report sent to club reflector on April 18th. No corrections or
additions received.



Treasurer’s Report – Cam Coble for Steve Allen

Have paid for and received a manual tuner from MFJ. Steve also paid the $25
annual fee to the State Corporation Commission.



WinLink Update – Danny Wylam

Both gateways were tested earlier today and are working. Had to make two
trips to Brush Mountain earlier in the month to reset the computer. (One
trip was due to an update and one due to a brief power outage).

*Old Business*

Audit Committee – Cam Coble

Met on April 9th. Reviewed club finances and found everything to be in
order. Will submit a formal report shortly.



Primary Station for Club Use – Cam Coble

Have ordered a Yaesu FT-991A HF Radio. On backorder and expected to ship by
end of May. Also ordered an MFJ-969 Manual Tuner to provide maximum
flexibility when operating during Field Day. This has already come in.



Third and final call for check-ins.



*New Business*

Planning for Field Day – Cam Coble

Randolph Park location has been reserved. Have come up with a preliminary
plan and map for how to lay out the antennas. Danny Wylam will serve as
antenna coordinator. Danny will also look into reserving a generator for
club use during Field Day.  Participants should plan on bringing their own
food. Will have some extra bottled water on hand. Equipment will be spaced
out and will have some disinfectant wipes available when changing operators.



Audie Murphy Special Event on Saturday, May 29th – Danny Wylam

Sent out details by email on April 19th. Plan to operate on Brush Mountain
about 3/4th of a mile from the Audie Murphy Memorial which is near the
crash site. The event will start at 9am and run until 6pm. It has been
listed in the May QST magazine.



Blings n’ Things - Cam Coble

This month’s discussion theme was “Field Schmeild” – members were asked
what it would take for them to come out to Field Day.



Fox Hunts – Cam Coble

Club sponsored fox hunts are scheduled as follows:

- 8 May - Randolph Park

- 24 July - TBD

- 14 Aug – TBD



Operating Course – Ed Lener

Ed made a brief announcement about the Operating Course being sponsored by
the National Electronics Museum.  Sessions are held on Zoom each Thursday
evening beginning at 6:30. Schedule and registration details were sent to
the club reflector shortly after the meeting.





Meeting officially adjourned at approximately 7:25 PM but discussion
continued on Zoom for some time after.



There were a total of 13 check-ins plus net control.
