I won't be able to man Comer's Rock for this year's Golden Packet event on July 17th.  In short, the Golden Packet event is a fun example of what APRS can do with sending a packet from Georgia to Maine (and even into Canada).  More info can be found on the website: http://www.aprs.org/at-golden-packet.html . This website is starting to become disjointed from the main organization, but it's got some good information.  The last few years, I've manned the 4th link in the chain from the southern end at Comers Rock (SW of Wytheville).  This is a very scenic spot, though does require some gravel road driving and 5-10 minute hiking up to get to. Don't have the gear?  I'm willing to let someone borrow what I've got and get them setup.  This is a great event if you like APRS, mountain topping (SOTA!), the outdoors, camping (not necessary for the event), and/or off-the-grid operations (battery, solar, etc.).
