     Please join us for the Audie Murphy Special Event to be held on
Saturday May 29. We will be commemorating the 50th anniversary of the
tragic plane crash that took Audie Murphy's life on May 28 1971.
     The location is on Brush Mt. about 3/4 th of a mile from the Audie
Murphy Memorial  which is near the crash site. From North Main St. in
Blacksburg take  Mt. Tabor Rd. 11.7 miles. There will be a sign on the left
for Audie Murphy. It is 3.3 miles to the clearing we will operate from. The
road is dirt but well maintained. A car should have no trouble.
       I will be bringing a Yaesu 857 and a G5RV antenna,
 canopy and Honda 2000 generator.It would be nice to have at least one
other station if someone is willing to bring additional equipment and
another canopy or canopies.The extra station will also need either a
generator or a good deep cycle battery, Not sure if my Honda can power two
HF stations but it can certainly recharge a battery.
       I plan to get up there about 7am for setup and would appreciate some
help. The event will start at 9am and run until 6pm. Come for as long as
you like and bring  your own food and refreshments chair etc.
       There are no facilities other than what mother nature provides.
