Very cool blast from the past!!! In the 50s, one Captain Frank Kenneth
Johnson (USCG Retired, K2FD) mentored me in many of those topics as we
built an audio amp for my "hi fi" and a 5 watt CW rig for my Novice
license. At about 8 wpm, I got distracted by an intense interest in
chemistry, which took me thru college and my first job where I got seduced
by the dark-side of computer programming and switched careers. My
interest in ham radio simmered on the back burner for 50 years until I
finally got my General license via the NRVARC testing in 2015. I love it
when a plan comes together ;-)

In your time of need, may your piece be with you!
The trouble with many of today's college graduates is not that they're
ignorant, it's that they've been taught so much that just isn't so!
(with apologies to
Ronald Reagan).
