Ham Radio Operators:
The Fort Valley Endurance Horse Ride will be held on Friday, Oct. 25th and Saturday Oct. 26th at Fort Valley Va. Net Control WILL be on site and active Thursday evening for early check-ins. Food will be provided, Beds will be available (limited number ~ 8 - 10)
The Briar Patch ARC and AUXCOMM of SW VA have supported this ride for over 5 years but due to a change of the date of the event several members are not able to attend. We need several additional operators.
We need to know of your commitment to help as soon as possible. We have a registration form that contains the information that we need in advance of the ride so that assignments can be made before getting on site.
Here is the link to the registration form http://www.w4ghs.org/Volunteer-Form-Endurance-Ride.html. When you go to this form, be sure in the first field to pull down "Fort Valley" and click to select. The rest of the form is straight forward. Complete the form and hit the submit button.
At this event we normally operate 2 meter simplex and you will need a mobile or portable unit with at least 50 watts. You also need an effective antenna.(J-Pole – Ground Plane or Beam) with a means to elevate it several feet above ground.
The use of HT's is not a recommended except for UHF in camp (446.500)
If you need to borrow a radio for this evolution I will have 2 50 watt dual band radios available at Net Control.
