[nrv-hams] Possibility of setting up at Scout Camps

The last time I volunteered to do anything for the BSA (I volunteered to
provide FREE NRA-certified Chief Range Safety Officer (CRSO) instruction to
ADULT scouts & leaders to qualify as Range Safety Officers at scout
shooting events), they "required" my SSN on the application form. I
declined to provide it because I had already been a victim of identity
theft perpetrated by an AZ phone company employee using my SSN, as
"required" by the phone company. The BSA reps still INSISTED that my SSN
was REQUIRED, *even though I would be an unpaid volunteer,* so I withdrew
my offer to conduct the training.

AFAIK, they never did the training "required" by their rules for shooting
event RSOs, i.e. taught by an NRA-certified CRSO ... so much for their
"rules"!

Regardless, I created an account (no SSN required thus far) to take the
Youth Protection training and will work on it, but if at any point they
"require" my SSN, I'm outta there!

In your time of need, may your piece be with you!

The trouble with many of today's college graduates is not that they're
ignorant, it's that they've been taught so much that just isn't so!

                                                      (with apologies to
Ronald Reagan).
