Everyone,
This Saturday, Dec. 1st, is SKYWARN Recognition Day. Contacts will be made
all day long and the fun will actually start the evening before. Carter
Craigie reports that at this this point it’s looking like we should have a
good complement of operators at the Blacksburg NWS Forecast Office SKYWARN
Desk.

Club members and other amateur radio operators in the area are asked to
turn their radios on at home and/or in their vehicles and to answer the
SKYWARN ops’ calls with the following:

   - Their callsign
   - Their (first) name
   - Their location
   - Their observed weather conditions.

SKYWARN Desk ops need practice in carefully recording that information.
Whenever severe weather is observed, say, at a later date, both senders and
recorders need such practice. In this way, this coming weekend's operation
is preparation for actual weather events in the future!

This winter looks like it may be a Deusy so getting such practice in
advance will be good for us all. More information can be found at
