SKYWARN Recognition Day is a 24-hour on-air event where NWS SKYWARN Desk
stations are activated, seeking contacts from all licensed amateurs and
other Weather Forecast Offices.   SKYWARN Stations will be activeon all
bands, HF(80m)-VHF/UHF, and repeater contacts are welcome.  The exchange
involves callsign, signal report, QTH, and a simple one or two word WX
report.  The event begins at 7pm local Friday, and runs until 7pm local
Saturday.

Blacksburg SKYWARN will be activating from the NWS Weather Forecast
Office in the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center this year on a
number of area repeaters and on HF.  Look for WX4RNK this weekend.

***********************
VTARA members are invited to operate from WX4RNK!!!
Email Carter Craigie, N3AO, at carterwc128 at gmail.com if you'd like to
stop by and operate.  It's a blast!  All licensees are invited. It's a
quick drive, short bike ride, or nice walk from campus to the NWS Office
in the CRC!!  You get to see where forecasts are made for our area, and
have fun playing ham radio!

Local repeaters where WX4RNK might be found this weekend are 146.715,
146.745 (Echolink KF4YLM-R), 146.985, 145.410, 147.180, 444.650, and
others.  Also look for WX4RNK on 80m, 40m, and 20m SSB, and other WFOs
from around the nation across the HF bands 80m-10m, and on IRLP/Echolink!
