Depends on how much current the lights draw!  If they are LEDs, you can
probably get enough juice from a cheap-o 140 watt inverter

that just plugs into your cigarette lighter outlet.

FWIW, a 1500 watt inverter (major overkill for a string of Christmas
lights!) should be connected directly to the Tahoe's battery.  Most auto
cigarette/aux outlets are fused at 20 amps (at 12 v that's 240 watts max).
