Update for Operation Lights Out
09-26-2015
We are at a point that we need to begin to tie up loose ends for the
exercise. We need each jurisdiction to make a selection of frequencies of
repeaters that have emergency power as an option at the repeater. These
need to be listed on a form ICS-205 found on our forms page. You can click
here and go directly to the form, http://www.w4ghs.org/ics-forms-205.pdf . You
can fill it out online, save it to a file and attach it to an email and
send it to me and I will post it on the drill website.
<http://www.w4ghs.org/Lightsout-Frequency.html>
http://www.w4ghs.org/Lightsout-Frequency.html . If you have problems with
this form, just enter the frequencies, offset and tone and email it to me
at mailto:w4ghs at arrl.net <w4ghs at arrl.net> . I will place it on a form for
you.
Each location needs to select a net control for your jurisdiction. The HF
frequencies are posted on the top form titled “New River Valley Form
ICS-605”
All the “Safe and Well” forms (this is the old Health and Welfare messages)
will be sent by Winlink to locations outside the Appalachian Power Company
service area. I will post the Winlink addresses that will receive
these. These
areas will continue to have Internet coverage and these hams will send the
message to the Red Cross for input into the database. If you have safe and
well messages and no Winlink service, call me (W4GHS) VHF/UHF or HF and I
will handle the traffic for you.
We will also be having a search for lost Boy Scouts in the Mt Rogers area
at an elevation at over a mile above sea level. The Scout Master will have
an HT with simplex frequencies and out-of-state repeaters which are of no
value. This area will be experiencing severe weather and low visibility
during the search.
Information and forms can be found at the Internet Site for the exercise.

More information will follow almost each day during the last few days prior
to the SET.
