[nrv-hams] Jamboree on the Air

Hello, NRV Club!  I hope you are doing well.

I wanted to invite you to come participate in Jamboree on the Air next weekend.  It takes place Oct 18-19 and has the goal of getting both boy and girl scouts on the air.  You can read more about it here: http://www.scouting.org/jota.aspx

There are a couple of way for you to participate:

1. Come join us in person at the Chantilly Festival Farm in Floyd!  We will be working with Troop 704 of Blacksburg.  You are welcome any time on Saturday and can even camp over into Sunday.  Dave Larsen, KK4WW, is our host.  They have a really nice station out there.  Other scout groups are welcome on Saturday as well.  So, if you know more scouts who may be interested, feel free to invite them.  Directions to Chantilly can be found here: http://www.chantillyfarm.com/directions

2. Get on the air from your own home an talk to scouts!  Scouts need patient operators to talk to.  If you hear scouts calling CQ or listening on the repeaters next weekend, please talk with them.  Remember, you may need to coach them through their QSO and come up with interesting conversations.  But, it will be worth it!

This is a very important event… you never know when you might inspire someone to an interesting life or career through ham radio!
