Happy new year, everybody.
2014 is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the ARRL. Several operating
events are taking place throughout the year to mark the centennial.
Information is on page 67 of December, QST, and updated at
http://www.arrl.org/centennial-qso-party.
A quick summary: W1AW will be operated portable from all 50 states and
several territories. W1AW/4 is on the air now from North Carolina and W1AW/8
is on the air now from West Virginia. These operations are using voice, CW,
and digital.
Also, there's a Centennial QSO Party that goes on all year. Every ARRL
member counts for at least 1 point in the event. My station is worth 300
points. Repeater contacts are not valid for this event (to prevent people
from tying up repeaters and irritating others) but if you want a contact on
2 meter simplex, please e-mail me off this reflector to n3kn at verizon.net and
we'll set up a sked.
Finally, there's a special callsign, W100AW, on the air throughout the year
from the Hiram Percy Maxim memorial station at ARRL HQ.
Have fun! 73 - Kay N3KN
