Greetings:

As the latest member of New River Valley Amateur Radio Club (NRVARC), I
would like to introduce myself.

My name is Don "Doc" Cunningham. I haven't been active in amateur radio for
a long time, but recently decided to get back into the hobby. My call sign
is KB9 SDH.

I am currently an Associate Professor in the English Department at Radford
University in Radford, Virginia, where I teach courses in Business Writing,
Professional Writing, and Technical Communication. My wife Lynn and I moved
to Radford in 2007.

For more than 20 years before embarking in my current academic career, I
worked in the telecommunications industry as an editor, technical writer,
documentation manager, and applications engineer for central office
switching system manufacturers specializing in the international (Pacific
Rim) markets. My former employers include NEC Corporation, Fujitsu, Nortel,
Tellabs, and Lucent (Bell Laboratories). I have served on international
standards committees and am a senior member of the Society for Technical
Communication (STC), including elected terms as the Chicago regional
chapter's vice-president and president. I am also a member of Association
for Teachers of Technical Writing (ATTW), Council for Programs in Technical
and Scientific Communication (CPTSC), and Institute of Electrical and
Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

For more information, please refer to my web site at
www.radford.edu/dacunning. My address is 1904 Smith Avenue, Radford, VA
24141. My home telephone is (540) 731-4953 and my cell phone is (540)
577-7458. I look forward to meeting you soon on the local repeater.

Best regards!
