[nrv-hams] APRS Activity

Hey all you APRS gurus out there:

My digipeater/iGate has seen a very large increase in stations in the last
day or so.  i usually have about 12-35 stations in my list and on my map,
but last night had over 700, and over 800 this morning.  Anyone know what
is going on?  Is this the App Trail APRS weekend and lots of people are
digipeating/turning on APRS gear in preparation?
