Here's some additional info that was passed to me about the race...see
details below

I'm sorry for the late notice (VTARA had a bit of a mixup thinking this
event would be in April like years past), but VTARA will be supporting the
VT Cycling Club in Maggie Valley (same location as two years ago).

We are short just a few hams and would greatly appreciate if you could
forward this to the N4NRV crew and see if anyone is available to help.

We will be utilizing two VHF simplex frequencies (TBD) for race and
emergency traffic like we did last year.

This is an all day event, we have been promised food and refreshments but I
strongly encourage everyone show up prepared for self-sustaining the whole
day.

Anyone with questions can contact me at:
email: jodavis5 at vt.edu
cell: (540) 553-5957
Thanks!

Subject: [nrv-hams] Bike Race - March 24th

The Virginia Tech cycle team is hosting a collegiate bike race Saturday with
teams for colleges from all over the country attending. I have helped on
this a few times and it is a real exciting day.

The Virginia Tech ARA could use some help Saturday March 24th for this race
in Craig county. They are having a meeting Thursday night at 7:30 in the
Norfolk Room of Squires Student Center. If you are able to help but cannot
attend the meeting, let Zach Leffke, KJ4QLP (zleffke at vt.edu) know.
I suspect that you will need to be on site bright and early (I'll have exact
time after meeting) and be prepared to stay the day. I'd suggest being
self-sufficient (i.e. bring food and drinks). It appears that there is a
need for some private vehicle lead cars that the bike people will reimburse
gas money for. Let Zach know if you are interested in that.

I have at least one mobile radio/antenna that someone can use and several
handhelds with mag mount antennas.

Ron
