[nrv-hams] ARRL DX Phone contest this weekend

As a contester (mostly inactive these days with too much work on my plate)
you start to take for granted that "everyone knows" and then you find out
people don't. The next thing is how much fun they are and how beneficial
they can be towards getting your station up, running, upgraded, patched
up. Next, they are tremendous aids in getting the needed contacts towards
all sorts of certificates (DXCC, WAS, etc.). This was completely apparent
to me when Sharon operated the 10m contest as her very first HF operating
event and got well on the way to DXCC and WAS in a single weekend. It was
also readily apparent to me how much aid we get these days from computers
and contest programs.

Folks, it just isn't that hard and if you do nothing but hunt for new
countries or states, listening and learn, or many of variations in
between, contests are fun and good things to USE for your own benefit.

Thanks Kay,
Bob
