NRV Group,

Below is a copy of the message that Nathaniel posted earlier to the
VTARA list. Sorry for the double posting for those that apply. It
should be a grand adventure!

Take care, 73, and hope to catch *you* on the air,

-Kevin, KJ4OAP

Hi, everyone. I hope you are having a good summer!

Kevin Sterne, KJ4OAP, and I are heading up to Adak, AK next week to
build a couple of new SuperDARN radars for research. Ethan Miller,
K8GU, will also be with us.

Adak is a remote Aleutian Island (IOTA NA-039) that is the western most
municipality in the United States and the southernmost in Alaska. About
300 people live there, and the island has a history of
strategic/military importance. The weather should be a balmy ~40-50 ˚F
and rainy.

Because we are going up there for work, amateur radio will be a
secondary operation and our schedule will be unpredictable. We are
planning on make a good number of QSOs, however, and plan on being QRV
on at least 20/15/10m on SSB/PSK31 and some CW. Internet will be
spotty, but if we are able we will send out some posts as to when we are
actually operating.

73 and hope to see you on the air,
Nathaniel, W2NAF
