Yesterday 12 members of the New River Valley ARC came to the second
Band-Pass Filter building party at the Dublin Firehouse (room courtesy of
John C KJ4NGC). All 12 club members who showed up at 9:00 AM after the
breakfast at Shoney's soon got right to work after a fine explanation of the
day's project from NRV club friend Donne AB4I. Soon people were selecting
capacitors (caps) and installing them and then we even were able to install
some of the coils we had made at the first work session. Donnie and I had
assembled the first of the four boards to use as a working model, and now
the remaining three boards are near completion.

Good job everyone:

It was a real pleasure seeing these club members working so well together on
this project. We all had fun and we all learned a great deal about tuned
circuits! We know that there were others in the club who very much wanted
to participate, but for one good reason or another were prevented from
coming; we will look for you to join us next time!

The end result of these work sessions will be 4 Band Pass Filters which will
allow us at Field Day (this year : June 23-24, 2012) to be able to work our
radios and not be bothered by hearing the emissions of the other nearby
radios in action at our Field day site in Randolph Park, in Dublin, VA.

It's looking like we will need at least one more work session to complete
our work. Once Donnie is able to test out what we did yesterday and at our
first work session, he will let us know when we shall meet again, and what
we will be doing. By the way, all 4 filter boxes have been drilled and ready
for the boards and switches, all courtesy of club member Jim N6QDO.Each box
required 16 holes to be drilled--a lot of high precision work, and we thank
you, Jim!

Again, thanks everybody. I will be back to you when Donnie has had a chance
to test everything we did yesteerday!

73 all,

Carter N3AO
