NRV-Hams - Today's Topics:
1. Ham radio story on National Public Radio (Kay Craigie)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A story on H.R. 607 and its effect on Amateur Radio is scheduled to be
broadcast on National Public Radio's "All Things Considered" program on
Saturday evening ... that's tomorrow. I was interviewed for the story on
Wednesday. Joe Taylor K1JT was interviewed also, at my suggestion, because
he operates weak signal, and the fact that he's a Nobel Prize winner who can
talk about ham radio in regular people's English crossed my mind, too.
I have enough experience with the press to know that just because you think
an interview went well, you could be in for a surprise when the story
actually airs. So I have my fingers crossed.
An interesting sidelight ... the engineer at the WVTF studio in Roanoke is a
ham, licensed for 50 years, and he said there are a number of hams there at
the station.
